about the desk · bellingham, wa

the content desk that treats your blog like it's going on a magazine cover.

Thornwood is a small editorial shop writing long-form articles, case studies, and SEO strategy for B2B software — the kind of pages your buyer reads to the end, then forwards to the person who holds the budget.

the origin story

a spreadsheet of hopeful guesses had to go.

Thornwood started after one content calendar too many turned out to be a tidy grid of wishful thinking — publish dates attached to topics nobody had checked anyone was searching for. So we flipped it: find the search first, interview the person who actually built the product, then write.

We stayed small on purpose. One editor owns your account end to end, reads your product docs on a Tuesday, and still remembers your competitor's weak comparison page on a Friday. No account-manager relay race, no ghostwriting pool rotating through your voice.

the house rules, written down so you can hold us to them

five things we won't trade away for a faster deadline.

01 interview first, invent never

every feature starts with a recorded conversation with someone who ships the product. we quote real engineers, not a paraphrased AI blur of what we assume they meant.

02 one editor, your whole account

the person on your kickoff call is the person drafting, optimizing, and reading your rankings months later. context doesn't get lost in a hand-off, because there isn't one.

03 rankings are a side effect of being worth reading

we map search intent before a word is drafted, but keywords serve the reader. write the page a human wants to finish and the algorithm tends to agree.

04 revisions live in the price

two revision rounds are baked into every piece. if a draft misses the brief, you get a fix — not a surprise invoice with "additional scope" in the subject line.

05 if it sounds like a press release, it's deleted

no "leveraging synergies," no beige thought-leadership voice. we build a short voice guide from your best writing and hold every sentence to it.

who tends to like working with us

you've got real experts

product leads, engineers, and founders who actually know the thing — and thirty minutes a month to talk about it.

1

desk, one editor, and a short list of B2B software clients we can genuinely keep sharp — not a content factory running a hundred accounts at once.

you're done with filler

if your last "SEO blog" was 600 words of nothing, you already know why nobody linked to it. we'd rather ship fewer pages that earn their place.

the fastest way to reach a human
